Scenes of Foster Park
Foster Park is located at the extreme southwest corner of the county. The 3.3-acre park is the initial access point to the Mahoning River, below the Lake Milton Dam. The property was purchased through the efforts of the Metro Park Commissioners, the Canoe Trails Club, and the State of Ohio Land and Water Conservation Grant Program. The park was originally named Canoe Trails, but was renamed in 2000 in honor of Preston Foster. Preston Foster is an avid canoeist and former Metro Park Commissioner. Mr. Foster contributed over 14 years of volunteer service to the Park Board. Foster Park contains such amenities as a canoe launch and new picnic facilities. The park is a convenient stop along the J Bike Roadway Trail. Foster Park is located off of State Route 534 in Newton Township, on Damascus/Newton Falls Road, near the intersection of Pricetown Road and Damascus/Newton Falls Road.
